The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Hertfordshire is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Crime and Insight Analyst to join our Policy and Strategy Directorate. This is a pivotal role that shapes how crime, performance, and community safety insights influence the Police and Crime Commissioner’s priorities and wider criminal justice outcomes.

Working at the heart of the OPCC, you will provide expert analytical leadership, strengthen corporate understanding of crime and disorder, and ensure high‑quality insight underpins scrutiny, prevention, and evidence‑based policing. Under the leadership of the Police and Crime Commissioner, we are driving forward priorities to prevent crime, reduce harm, tackle high‑impact offending, and improve outcomes for victims and communities. This role provides the analytical engine behind that mission.

Key Responsibilities:

As a key member of the Senior Management Team, you will

  • Develop analytical products that enhance understanding of crime, disorder, and policing performance.
  • Provide insight and assurance to the Police and Crime Commissioner regarding Hertfordshire Constabulary’s performance.
  • Lead independent and collaborative analysis across policy, commissioning, and criminal justice partners.
  • Work closely with Constabulary analytical teams to align and complement organisational insight
  • Interrogate, model, and enhance data to support evidence‑based policing
  • Use predictive analysis and data‑mapping techniques to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Extract and prepare sensitive information from police systems for external scrutiny.
  • Foster collaborative, cross‑organisational work, contributing to multi‑disciplinary groups and strategic projects.

This role requires visible leadership, professional credibility, and an ability to inspire confidence across partners and stakeholders.

What We’re Looking for

  • Degree-level education and at least five years’ analytical experience
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and Power Point
  • Desirable knowledge of Power BI and interest in AI tools
  • Knowledge of crime and disorder issues,
  • Ability to communicate complex data clearly
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing demands
