Overview
Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Wellington, FL is currently accepting applications for an Equine Hospital Technician. This position is hospital-based and offers the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated team of experienced veterinary professionals in a fast-paced, high-quality equine medical environment.
As a member of our hospital team, you will play an integral role in providing hands-on patient care for hospitalized and emergency equine patients. This role requires strong horse-handling skills, attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently while supporting veterinarians during diagnostics and treatments.
The technician team’s primary focus is ensuring Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital patients receive exceptional care through medical treatments, diagnostics, monitoring and daily husbandry.
Primary Duties- Patient care including but not limited to performing physical exams, completing treatments, preparing and administering medications through all routes (IV, IM, SQ, PO, PR)
- Admitting emergency cases
- Completing in-house laboratory tests
- Maintaining accurate medical records and nursing notes
- Daily barn chores and facility upkeep
- Doctor support during patient workups, diagnostics and treatments
- Restocking treatment areas and completing inventory counts as needed
- Adhering to hospital protocols and procedures
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years working with horses (show, race, grooming, managing or veterinary experience preferred)
- General equine knowledge including anatomy and basic medications
- Comfortable handling and restraining horses safely
- Ability to jog or walk patients as needed
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to navigate veterinary medical record systems
- Ability to recognize emergency situations
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Ability to consistently lift 50+ pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend and work on your feet for extended periods
- Ability to follow directions and adhere to policies and procedures
- Equine veterinary medical experience or knowledge
- Efficient multitasking ability
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure situations
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic
- Attention to detail

- Full-time and part-time opportunities available
- Flexible scheduling including weekends and holidays as needed
- Starting at $18–$20 per hour, commensurate with experience and education
- Weekend differential eligible
