Venue Manager St Johns

St John’s Bar is one of Wellington’s most iconic, multi-faceted hospitality venues — fast-paced, high-energy and always at the heart of the city’s social scene. As a key venue within our New Zealand portfolio, we’re now seeking a tried-and-tested Venue Manager to lead from the front and take this powerhouse venue to the next level.

This role is not for first timers. We’re looking for a confident, commercially minded operator who thrives in high-volume environments and knows how to balance exceptional guest experience with strong financial performance.

• Leading a large, diverse team across multiple service styles and peak trade periods
• Owning the end-to-end performance of the venue — people, profit, product and standards
• Delivering consistently high-quality guest experiences in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
• Driving sales, margin and labour efficiency through smart rostering and cost control
• Building a strong leadership team through coaching, development and accountability
• Ensuring all compliance, H&S and brand standards are met without compromising culture
• Acting as a key leader within our wider NZ portfolio, contributing to broader business success

• Proven experience as a Venue Manager (or equivalent senior leadership role) in a high-volume, multi-offer venue
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering results
• A hands‑on leader who leads by example and thrives on the floor during peak trade
• Excellent people leadership skills — you build teams people want to be part of
• Calm under pressure, decisive, and comfortable managing complexity
• Passion for hospitality, service excellence and creating great venues
