The Senior Legal Counsel – Property & Infrastructure is part of the Health New Zealand legal team. We have offices across New Zealand supporting hospital operations and community services. Our team is collaborative, collegial, and empathetic, committed to supporting quality health services and outcomes for all New Zealand populations. Our work covers significant and often novel public law, regulatory, medico-legal, privacy issues, and major procurement, data & digital, commercial, construction, property, and litigation matters, all fundamental to achieving our organisation's kaupapa.

The role involves providing high-quality, system-minded, commercial, and pragmatic in-house legal advice to the Infrastructure & Investment Group, including:

  • Specific property law advice on leasing and asset management,
  • End-to-end advice on large, complex infrastructure projects,
  • Daily advice on general property, leasing, land dealings, and construction law,

Strong communication skills, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to provide both reactive and proactive advice across diverse, fast-paced environments are essential. Willingness to learn, lead projects, contribute to team culture, and excellent relationship skills are also key.
