We are looking for a Ward/Department Manager to join The Urgent Care Centre & AAU team at The Wellington Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare UK.

As the Ward/Department Manager for the Urgent Care Centre & AAU, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing patient experiences and delivering exceptional clinical and professional leadership to the team.

The Manager will be responsible for supervising daily operations within the Urgent Care Centre; overseeing timely assessment, treatment and admissions as required. Together with responsibility of the daily operations within the AAU.

This position provides mentorship and support to the team, serving as both a clinical expert and role model.

You will ensure that the highest standards of care are maintained through rigorous monitoring of both personal and clinical team competence, implementing evidence-based practices, adherence to policy & guidelines, fostering development initiatives and delivering high quality service to patients, their families and other stakeholders.

You will be responsible for adhering to budgetary guidelines and meeting workforce planning objectives.

This role requires active promotion of the Unit within The Wellington Hospital and HCA, as well as participation in relevant forums to drive continuous improvement.

What you’ll bring:
  • Registered Nurse qualification

  • Minimum of 5 years of post-registration experience, with at least 3 years in a similar setting (e.g., A&E, Urgent Care, AAU)

  • Specialty certification relevant to Urgent Care /AAU

  • Certification in Teaching, Assessing, or Mentorship

  • Team and Department Management qualification/experience

  • Experience of service improvements desirable
