Welder Fabricator
Location:
NN8 Area
Pay: £16 to £17 per hour
Shift Patterns:
* Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (standard shift)
* Occasional special shifts may be required based on customer demand
Job Summary:
The Coded Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding work in compliance with approved welding procedures, codes, and standards. This role requires certification in relevant welding codes and the ability to produce welds that meet stringent quality, safety, and inspection requirements across structural, piping, or pressure systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform welding operations according to approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
* Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, isometrics, and weld symbols.
* Execute welds using approved processes such as TIG and MIG.
* Ensure all welds meet applicable codes and standards (e.g., ISO, EN).
* Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, fitting, and aligning components before welding.
* Conduct visual inspections of completed welds and support Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities (RT, UT, MT, PT) as needed.
* Maintain welding equipment, tools, and consumables in safe, functional condition.
* Strictly adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures at all times.
* Complete job documentation, including weld logs, inspection records, and quality reports.
* Work closely with supervisors, inspectors, and other trades to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications and
Certifications:
* Proven experience in structural steel, piping, pressure vessels, or related fabrication environments is an advantage.
* Ability to pass weld tests and periodic requalification as required.
Skills and
Competencies:
* In-depth knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and heat input control.
* Ability to work in various positions (1G-6G).
* High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
* Strong understanding of safety practices and risk control.
* Effective communication and ability to follow technical instructions.
* Coded welding training will be provided and fully supported.
Working Conditions:
* Workshop-based role with overtime required as necessary.
* Full compliance with safety procedures is essential.
Hours of Work:
* Standard hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, or as required.
* Special
Shifts:
Occasional special shifts may be scheduled depending on customer demand and production needs.
Overtime:
* Overtime hours must be fulfilled once agreed upon with your manager.
Break Times:
* Morning Break: 10:00 am - 10:10 am
* Lunch Break: 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm
* Afternoon Break: 3:00 pm - 3:10 pm
