Are you someone who loves accuracy, thrives on organisation, and enjoys supporting people? We’re looking for a caring, detail‑driven Payroll Officer to join our team in Wellingborough for a 12‑month interim role.

About the Role

In this role, you’ll work closely with our Group Payroll Manager to ensure our colleagues across the Group are paid accurately and on time. You’ll help maintain clean, reliable payroll and HR data, ensuring our processes run smoothly and always remain compliant.

This position is full‑time, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring the smooth running of payroll across all Group companies
  • Processing overtime, pay changes and monthly updates
  • Completing payroll accuracy checks
  • Assisting with annual pay reviews
  • Supporting employees with payroll queries
  • Helping with pension reporting and provider submissions
  • Preparing data for P11

    Ds and benefits calculations
  • Maintaining accurate employee records in payroll/HR systems
  • Conducting regular data checks and housekeeping
  • Supporting audits with organised, compliant records
  • Assisting with expenses and Barclaycard claims
  • Supporting annual benefit renewals and scheme joiners/leavers
  • Always handling sensitive information with care and discretion
  • Working collaboratively with our HR and Finance colleagues when needed
Qualifications
  • A good general education, including GCSE English & Maths (Level 2 or above)
Required Skills
  • Strong numeracy skills and confidence with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • A sharp eye for detail and accuracy
  • Good organisational skills and comfort with routine processes
  • Sensitivity and respect when handling confidential information
  • The ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Warm, clear communication skills — both written and spoken
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in payroll processing
  • Familiarity with HR systems
