SEMH Specialist Teaching Assistant

Salary: £90‑£100 per day

Full Time, Temp‑to‑Perm

The school is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment where all students, including those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, can thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support to secondary‑age students with SEMH needs within the classroom and on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Assist in the delivery of differentiated lessons to meet the individual needs of students
  • Support students in managing their emotions, behaviours, and social interactions
  • Work closely with the teaching staff and SENCO to develop and implement individual learning plans
  • Monitor and record students' progress, and provide feedback to teachers and parents
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and calm learning environment for students
  • Contribute to the broader life of the school, supporting school activities and initiatives where required
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working with secondary‑age pupils with SEMH needs (preferred)
  • A passion for supporting students with diverse needs and helping them to achieve their full potential
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • A proactive and patient approach to supporting students
  • A relevant qualification in supporting students with additional needs (e.g., Level 2/3 TA qualification, or equivalent)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Understanding of safeguarding policies and a commitment to the wellbeing of students
