About The Role
The Demand Planner is a crucial role within Whitworths, forecasting orders and supporting the Supply Chain and Factory to meet customer demand.
What are the main responsibilities of the job role?The Demand Planner will be responsible for maximizing and communicating the forecast accuracy of customer accounts. Demand Planners have responsibility to analyse and recommend changes to the forward business forecast, using data from internal systems and externally, using the major retailer’s systems. In addition, the role will support the Senior Dealer Planner in implementing margin improvements and cost saving initiatives aimed at driving supply chain efficiencies.
- Make logical forecast changes by obtaining customer data, stock holding information and distribution data from external customer websites.
- Deliver and communicate robust forecasts.
- Effectively communicate any forecast changes.
- Monitor and track all new product design and promotional performances making adjustments to demand planner accordingly and communicate these.
- Support the Senior Demand Planner with producing and maintaining a suite of daily, weekly and monthly internal reports and circulate.
- Lead and manage fortnightly forecast review meetings, reaching agreement on any forecast changes, and documenting reasons for change, key assumptions, risks and opportunities.
- Analyse and report on forecast accuracy.
- Manage the monthly sales and operational planning forecast for each account.
- Analysis draw conclusions and present data on a regular basis.
- Manage and track depot and store stocks to improve forecast accuracy.
- Complete seasonality profiling as required.
- Manage any irregular order patterns such as promos, range reviews, re‑stocks.
- Ensure accuracy of codes and coding to properly forecast delivery and demand.
- Previous experience within a demand planning role.
- Previous experience working within the FMCG industry with supply chain / customer service bias.
- Good working knowledge of order management processes.
- Good understanding of collaborative working practices with retailers.
- Working knowledge of Retail Link or similar retailer systems desirable.
