Overview
Our client is a boutique wealth management firm with over 20 years of history serving sophisticated, tax-sensitive clients. The firm is seeking an Associate Director of Planning & Investments to join the team in a succession-track role, with a clear 2–3 year trajectory to Director of Planning / Investment Leader.
This role is ideal for a strong planning and investment professional who is ready to take the next step toward leadership. You will work closely with a seasoned Sr. Director of Investments while gradually assuming greater responsibility across portfolio management, advanced planning, and investment strategy.
This is not a back-office analyst role. It is a future leadership seat with long-term growth.
What You’ll Do
• Support and increasingly co-manage investment portfolios for tax-sensitive clients
• Implement and monitor model portfolios using a model-based investment platform
• Execute rebalancing, transitions, and ongoing portfolio maintenance
• Identify and implement tax-loss harvesting, asset location, and gain management strategies
• Contribute to comprehensive financial planning, including:
• Buy-sell agreements and business owner planning
• Concentrated stock and liquidity strategies
• Prepare analyses and materials for client meetings
• Collaborate with advisors on complex planning and investment decisions
• Grow into increased ownership of planning and investment leadership over time, including strategy development and implementation
What We’re Looking For
• 5–8+ years of experience in wealth management or a boutique advisory environment
• Strong experience working with taxable portfolios and tax-sensitive clients
• Working knowledge of tax-loss harvesting, asset location, and business owner planning
• CFP® required or actively pursuing (CFA or similar credentials welcome)
• Series 7 and 66 (or willingness to obtain)
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate clearly
• Desire to grow into a senior planning and investment leadership role
• Based in or able to commute to Central Massachusetts
Compensation & Growth
• Bonus / Incentive: $10,000–$30,000
• Total Target Compensation: $120,000–$160,000 (Year
1)
Compensation and responsibility are expected to grow meaningfully over time, with a defined path to a Director of Planning / Investment Leader role within 2–3 years.
