In-House Travel Pool – Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
General description:
The West Virginia Department of Health Facilities is hiring dedicated Licensed Practical Nurses for our State Facility Travel Program. Assignments may be at one facility or rotate among several of the three DHF facilities, may be per diem or up to 12 months, with a $40 hourly rate + benefits. Travel may be required.
- Provide direct patient care, including assisting with daily living activities, administering medications, and performing basic nursing duties.
- Work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or licensed physician to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Oversee and support health service workers and certified nursing assistants, ensuring quality care delivery.
- Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient conditions, and document progress.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring smooth transitions and continuity of care.
- Participate in maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff through monitoring, de-escalation techniques, and crisis intervention.
- Set up and maintain medical supplies and equipment, ensuring they are readily available and in good working condition.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the West Virginia State Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses.
- $40 hourly rate + Benefits
- Opportunities at one or more of West Virginia’s 3 state-operated healthcare facilities
- Available benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance if the employee works more than 30 hours per week.
- Travel staff may be eligible for a generous appointment incentive package with full state benefits upon transitioning to a permanent position. Participation in the Program is limited to twelve (12) months.
The Department of Health Facilities offers a State Facility Travel Program for nurses and other direct care staff. The program reshapes the workforce to enhance efficiency, stability, and quality of care. Assignments may be at one or more of three state-owned facilities based on staffing needs.
