Blood transfusions, wound vac changes, PCA pumps
Drips:
Heparin drips per protocol (titration required)
Patient Population / Common Diagnoses:
Ortho:
Post-op knees/hips, hip fractures, shoulder replacements
GU: TURBT, TURP, bladder biopsies
General Surgery:
Hemicolectomy, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair
Cath Lab:
Post peripheral interventions, dialysis cath insertions
Support Staff:
Charge Nurse:
On each shift
Days:
No assignment
Nights:
Small assignment (2–3 patients)
PCTs:
Days: 3 | Nights: 2
Duties include ADLs, vitals, I&Os, EKGs, glucose checks, ambulation, and transport
Respiratory / Telemetry:
RT manages CPAP/BiPAP; RNs troubleshoot only. No vents on unit.
No monitor techs on unit; telemetry interpreted by IMC monitor techs.

RN 7a–7p / 7p–7a
No self or block scheduling
Weekends:
Every other weekend
Holidays:
Rotating holiday groups
Call / Standby:
No call
Standby (EA) for low census per outlined process
Floating:
Rotational, tracked by charge nurse
May float to MS, MS-Tele, or IMC for lower-acuity patients (not IRF)
Dress Code:

Navy blue or white scrubs
PCTs:
Ceil blue
Ward Clerks:
Hot pink/black

Orientation:
1 day with educator + 1–2 days with preceptor
