RN Qualifications & Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia or compact state

• BLS certification (American Heart Association)

• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience

• Proficient in post-surgical care, wound vac changes, PCA pumps, and blood transfusions

• Ability to titrate heparin drips per protocol

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Copy of unexpired driver’s license required for submission
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to post-surgical patients, including ortho (joint replacements, fractures), GU (TURBT, TURP, bladder biopsy), and general surgery (hemicolectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair)

• Monitor and document patient status, administer medications, and manage IVs and drips per protocol

• Perform wound care, blood transfusions, and operate PCA pumps

• Collaborate with patient care technicians and interdisciplinary healthcare team members

• Participate in rotating weekend and holiday schedules

• Float to other Med/Surg or IMC units as needed

• Adhere to unit policies, including dress code (navy blue or white scrubs)

• Utilize Cerner Soarian for electronic documentation
