Registered Nurse - PACU

Applicants will be the incumbent responsible for delivering nursing care through the nursing process, applying clinical knowledge, and using independent judgment for care provided by themselves and by healthcare providers. The role requires assessment and interpretation of patient data to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs.
Minimum Qualifications- Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or a current multi‑state RN license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Current temporary RN permit as required by the state board where services will be provided.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Diploma, currently enrolled in a BSN program and BSN completed within 5 years of hire.
- Provides direct patient care within the ambulatory setting, based on the nursing process and within role/scope of practice.
- Performs preliminary assessment of patients through observation and chart review to facilitate appropriate follow‑up with the healthcare team.
- Evaluates unstable or complex patient care situations and facilitates appropriate intervention.
- Implements appropriate clinical decisions and demonstrates appropriate use of expert peers and/or management, as applicable.
- Accepts accountability and uses independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by healthcare providers.
- Demonstrates the use of standards, effective use of resources, and evaluation of patient response in the delivery of patient care.
- Uses standards of care and standards of practice to guide care delivery.
- Bases decisions on relevant scientific principles, established standards of care and/or research findings.
- Determines/revises priorities for direct/indirect patient care activities based on patient acuity and available resources.
- Uses established patient care support systems including documentation, communication, and information.
- Responsible for educational instruction to patients and families with healthcare needs.
- Identifies teaching/learning needs of patients and evaluates effectiveness of teaching.
- Assists in orientation of new employees according to unit orientation plan.
- Applies information gained from educational experiences when providing patient care and instruction.
- Encourages the development of others through mentoring and networking activities.
- Fosters integration of staff and/or students into the healthcare team; facilitates incorporation of the unit's mission, values, and vision.
- Demonstrates skill in managing conflict situations; promotes trusting relationships and open, honest communication at the unit level.
- Engages in exchange of information relevant to specific patient assignment.
- Interacts with various members of the healthcare team to meet patient care needs.
- Participates in performance improvement activities as appropriate.
- Minimize manual lifting of patients; use lift equipment for transfers, lifts, and repositioning; limit safe patient handling to ≤35 pounds.
- Lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying of materials and equipment weighing 40+ lbs required.
- Working closely with others.
- Protracted or irregular hours.
- Working around biohazards and infectious diseases.
- Working with hands in water.
- Electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment.
- May cover multiple clinic locations; some travel may be required.
