The Emergency Department (ED) nursing staff is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients of all ages requiring care for a variety of illnesses and injuries*. Collaborates with the ED physician and executes prescribed treatments within the scope of nursing practice. Coordinate activities and assures availability of supplies and equipment for safe and efficient care.
The Emergency Department Nurse shall perform charge nurse duties when assigned, which include directing the flow of ED patients, implementing procedures when indicated and serving as a resource person to all staff members.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of West Virginia; current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); successful completion of cardiac rhythm interpretation course or equivalent examination. Prefer certification as trauma nurse specialist (T.N.S.); prefer certification in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS); encourage certification in emergency nursing (CEN).
A minimum of two year's of clinical nursing experience; prefer experience in an emergency department or critical care.
