Position: Occupational Therapist - Full Time (Inpatient)

Responsibilities
  • Evaluates and treats patients who have difficulty performing daily tasks due to physical, emotional, cognitive, and/or psychosocial conditions.
  • Provides coordinated and comprehensive patient care including assessment, expected outcomes, rehabilitation interventions and evaluation within an interdisciplinary team approach.
  • Evaluates patient needs and develops and implements treatment programs for assigned patients to identify, prevent, and minimize physical disabilities and/or pain; determines or revises priorities for direct/indirect patient care activities based on patient need and available resources; collaborates with nursing to update appropriate algorithms for safe patient handling. Documents all treatments according to department policies and procedures, as monitored by supervision, by documentation review and consultation with referring Provider.
  • Submits accurate charges for services rendered for patients, according to departmental policies and procedures utilizing the billing system via the patient’s EMR.
  • Carries out oversight responsibilities to ensure supervision of COTAs, students and volunteers.
  • Participates in education and training of staff, students, patients, and family members to assure the appropriate delivery of care and to achieve the mission of WVU Medicine.
Minimum Qualifications

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

  • Current or temporary occupational therapist licensure in the applicable state where services will be performed.
  • MD:
    Occupational Therapist License OR Occupational Therapist Temporary License through Maryland Board of Occupational Therapy Practice
  • OH:
    Occupational Therapist through the Ohio Board of Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Training
  • PA:
    Occupational Therapist License OR Occupational Therapist Temporary License through Pennsylvania Department of State
  • WV:
    Occupational Therapist License OR Occupational Therapist Limited Permit through West Virginia Board of Occupational Therapy

Certification: Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Preferred Qualifications

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

  • One (1) year of occupational therapist experience.
For Facilities With Specialty Accreditation Requirements
  • Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation.
