Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

• Weekend requirements: every other weekend (EOW)

• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation

• No call or standby requirements

• 30-bed stepdown unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-6 depending on acuity

• Must have 2 years of stepdown/PCU experience required

• Must be comfortable with cardiac monitoring and cardiac drips

• Required to titrate drips including cardizem, amio, nitro, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, and angiomax

• Care for patients with cardiac conditions, post pneumonia, post cath lab, seizures, ETOH with CIWA protocols, and pacemakers

• Expected to read and interpret telemetry strips, print strips, perform measurements, and identify rhythms

• Must troubleshoot respiratory equipment as appropriate

• Floating requirements: may float to any inpatient unit, travelers are first to float

• Dress code:
Navy blue scrubs required

• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS

• Orientation includes 2 days general orientation and 1 day with preceptor

• Charting system:
Cerner

• BSN not required

• Must reside within 50-mile radius and provide copy of unexpired driver's license

• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission

The facility maintains 24/7 support services including respiratory therapy, monitor technicians, and physician coverage with primary attending physicians during the day and nocturnist coverage  stepdown unit is well-equipped to handle cardiac patients and various medical conditions requiring intermediate-level care between ICU and general medical floors.
