The Finance Intern at WVU Health System will play a vital role in supporting our finance team's day-to-day operations. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in healthcare finance, accounting, and budgeting within a dynamic and innovative healthcare organization.

Minimum Qualifications Education, Certification, and/or Licensure
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Core Duties and Responsibilities
    • Assist in financial data analysis and reporting to support decision-making processes.
    • Collaborate with the finance team to maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
    • Conduct research on industry best practices and financial trends to enhance departmental strategies.
    • Assist in preparing financial statements, budget forecasts, and variance analyses.
    • Support financial audits by gathering necessary documentation and providing assistance to auditors.
    • Participate in meetings and training sessions to expand knowledge of healthcare finance and accounting principles.
    • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance department.
    • Perform other ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned by the Finance Manager.

  • Standard, high volume office environment.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Must possess basic computer knowledge and ability to operate standard office equipment and software.
    • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Must have the ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality.
    • Must have the ability to project a positive and professional image to internal and external customers.
    • Must have the ability to exercise initiative and work independently - Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software/tools.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
    • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges in the healthcare finance sector.
