Description:

We are looking for an experienced controls engineering manager to join the Manufacturing Control and Execution Systems - Sustaining team. You will lead Controls, Robotics, and SCADA Technicians and own maintenance and continuous improvement of equipment used to manufacture Form Energy's Iron-Air battery. This leadership role covers design, development, deployment, and sustaining of control and execution systems throughout their lifecycle.

Reporting to the Senior Controls Engineering Manager, you will coordinate with system managers to prioritize continuous improvement and sustaining activities, lead design and development of innovative solutions, and mentor technicians and engineers.

This opportunity is based at Form Factory 1, a 550,000-square-foot manufacturing facility located in Weirton, WV, near Pittsburgh. Relocation assistance is available.

What you'll do:

• Lead Manufacturing Control and Execution Systems sustaining efforts at Form Factory 1, including:
• Maintain and troubleshoot industrial controls equipment
• Provide electrical and controls support for production operations and maintenance, including troubleshooting control and electrical issues related to downtime, throughput, and safety
• Ensure plant automated equipment functions as designed
• Perform minor PLC and HMI software changes and pursue continuous improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, vendors, and service providers to troubleshoot and improve
• Work with engineers and technicians on new automated process equipment deployment
• Troubleshoot MES data transactions within PLC programs
• Layout and fabricate machine control panels with engineers

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to technicians and engineers
• Coordinate with System Managers to ensure training for Controls, Robotics, and SCADA Technicians
• Clarify support escalation processes and on-call engineering involvement during off-hours
• Maintain spare parts inventory for control, robotic, and SCADA systems
• Ensure proper use of Octoplant to access and back up programs
• Lead and direct continuous improvement projects and production coverage planning
• Set performance goals and provide timely feedback; resolve conflicts within the team

• A hands-on, lead-by-example leadership style
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in automation and/or electromechanical systems
• 2+ years of experience hiring and managing a team of engineers and technicians
• Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal
• Willingness to lead a rapidly growing multi-disciplinary team focused on sustaining
