Job Title: Housing Case Manager A
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Effective Date: 3/30/2020
Pay Rate: $21.63/hr / $45,000/year
Position OverviewHOURS:
40 Weekly minimum, or as necessary to achieve program objectives, tasks, activities, responsibilities, and to effectively document outcome measures and variances.
Work Schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8am-5:30pm;
Friday 8am-3pm;
Wednesday 12–8:30pm.
Provide housing case management assistance to non-residential program participants who have fled a domestic violence or sexual assault living environment. Casework is done both in the office and at participants’ homes after they exit emergency shelter. Encourage participation in BATP facilitated after‑care support group to reduce return to crisis and homelessness. Provide transportation assistance and connect families to resources such as clothing, furniture, food, etc.
EssentialFunctions
- Conduct casework with housing participants, including goal setting, education, personal financial planning, and referrals to BATP’s victim advocacy program.
- Assist parents/children with healthy development.
- Inquire and report all allegations of child or elder abuse to CPS or APS.
- Oversee program participant transportation needs, including reimbursement processing.
- Be knowledgeable of community resources.
- Provide structured activities for children while mothers attend non‑residential follow‑up services.
- Complete HUD‑regulated inspections as required.
- Prepare and submit monthly purchase requests for rental and/or utility assistance.
- Work in partnership with Apartment Managers and Landlords to ensure safe, sanitary, and secure living arrangements.
- Complete monthly Landlord/Leasing Office calls to maintain occupancy and address tenant concerns.
- Maintain program participant records.
- Maintain strict confidentiality when completing file maintenance and working with partners.
- Complete on‑site emergency victim accompaniment from hospitals and police stations with assessments and intake paperwork.
- Review, prepare, and organize participant files and database for internal and external monitoring.
- Resolve participant complaints by following the grievance process.
- Serve as backup to the Housing Specialist.
- Know program guidelines and enforce them when not followed.
- Have knowledge of grant objectives and goals.
- Prepare reports as requested.
- Continuously oversee program needs and make recommendations.
- Participate in agency fund‑raisers, community awareness, and speaking activities.
- Provide victim information to former shelter residents, referring them to victim assistance/advocacy staff.
- Work weekends and evenings as required.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Assist with answering the agency hotline.
- Assist with assessment services to victims.
- Rotate as on‑call emergency accompaniment staff with 45‑minute response.
- Represent the agency in public presentations and professional training.
- Develop and procure program/service awareness materials, maintain playroom, and distribute supplies.
- Facilitate Job Readiness Classes at shelter.
- Complete assigned chores on a quarterly rotation schedule.
- Complete bi‑weekly timesheet and monthly mileage tracking sheet.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Oversee volunteers assigned to follow‑up services.
- Demonstrate leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills to empower residents.
- Make independent decisions benefiting participants and the agency.
- Communicate program and participant service needs to the supervisor.
- Assist in problem solving.
- Provide weekly notes reflecting progress, problems, and activities to the supervisor.
- Some college courses with related experience, or 2‑year degree with 4 years of experience.
- 4‑year degree with 2 years of experience; or master’s degree with 1 year of experience.
- Demonstrate a teamwork approach.
- Sensitivity and knowledge regarding family violence and sexual assault and their impact on women and children.
- Ability to remain calm in crisis situations.
- Understand residential programs and communal living dynamics.
- Willingness to work flexible hours.
- Ability to lift/carry/move at least 40 lbs…
