Job Details- Position: Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) – Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) / Hematology Nurse (Travel Nurse)
- Location: 500 Medical Center Blvd, Webster, TX 77598 (Houston-area, Clear Lake)
- Start Date: March 2, 2026
- End Date: June 1, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (91 days)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Blood Cancer / BMT (8 beds, Central Tower, 4th floor)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 4:1
- EMR: Meditech
- Equipment: Telemetry, cardiac monitoring
- Dress Code: Royal Blue Scrubs
- Weekend Requirement: Rotating weekends
- Floating: May float to Med-Surg as needed
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1910 - $2010
Job Requirements
- Experience: Oncology, hematology, or bone marrow transplant RN experience required (chemotherapy/biotherapy administration)
- Clinical Skills:
- Chemotherapy and biotherapy administration experience (ONS standards)
- BMT / Bone Marrow Transplant clinical care experience
- Hematology patient assessment and symptom management
- Licensure: Current Texas RN license or Multi-State Compact RN license
- Certifications (Required):
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certification
- Preferred Certifications:
- ONCC Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Professional Attributes: Compassionate, resilient, collaborative, detail-oriented, critical thinker, and team player—strong communicator for interdisciplinary oncology care
- Deliver safe, evidence-based oncology nursing care for patients undergoing chemotherapy, biotherapy, and bone marrow transplant procedures
- Administer chemotherapy and biologic therapies per protocols and monitor for infusion reactions and toxicities
- Administer blood products and monitor for transfusion reactions following institutional and blood bank guidelines
- Use telemetry and cardiac monitoring equipment to assess and respond to patient status changes
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, pharmacists, social work, case management) to coordinate treatment plans, symptom management, and discharge planning
- Document thoroughly and maintain accurate medical records in Meditech; ensure effective communication during handoffs
- Provide patient and family education on treatment protocols, expected side effects, symptom management, and post-discharge care
- Float to Med-Surg as needed and participate in rotating weekend coverage to support unit staffing
- Promote a compassionate, patient-centered environment for individuals and families affected by blood cancers
