Assistant Director of Nursing
Join our dynamic care team at Lanessa Extended Care in Webster. Lanessa is a 96‑bed skilled nursing facility offering a salaried role with weekly pay. The base pay range is $50.00/hr – $55.00/hr must be a Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Nursing Services in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing day‑to‑day operations of the Nursing Services Department.
- Meet the clinical needs of all residents while promoting positive resident and family relationships.
- Contribute to effective communication and a pleasant working environment, demonstrating leadership and maximizing the potential of each supervised employee.
- Assist with reviewing and developing all clinical policies and procedures, ensuring nursing staff follow them.
- Assist in monitoring and reviewing staffing needs, schedules, and work assignments.
- Ensure nursing assistants are certified, maintaining a system to confirm currency and track required in‑service hours yearly.
- Confirm that all nurses are licensed and track certification currency.
- Conduct rounds on each nursing unit, including visual inspections.
- Ensure medications are administered, handled, stored, and audited properly.
- Help review satisfaction of care via interviews with families and residents.
- Assist the Infection Preventionist with the Infection Control Program.
- Assist the Director of Staff Development in ensuring all mandatory in‑service education sessions are scheduled, performed, documented, and retained.
- Assist in developing safety standards, monitoring incidents, and creating corrective action plans.
- Help conduct monthly nursing department staff meetings held on all shifts.
- Participate in government agency surveys and inspections, implementing corrective plans for deficiencies.
- Complete other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Current, unencumbered RN license in the state.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; at least a nursing degree from an accredited institution.
- CPR certification.
- Minimum of one year experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long‑term care facility, or related health setting.
- Strong communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
- Skill in dealing tactfully with personnel, residents, families, visitors, government agencies, and the public.
- Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, laws, regulations, and guidelines for long‑term care.
- Understanding of privacy regulations and ability to ensure staff compliance.
- Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, policies, and procedures for quality care.
- Patience, tact, professional demeanor, and enthusiasm, with capacity to handle difficult situations.
- Willingness to adopt new methods and principles into nursing practice.
- Effective communication of emergency situations to appropriate personnel.
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
