What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience across a wide range of corporate tax functions.
- Prepare state income and franchise tax returns and estimates.
- Assist with preparation of federal tax returns and provisions.
- Prepare premium tax returns and provisions.
- Prepare analytical schedules as needed in support of all tax functions.
- Work with Tax Accountant Senior and Manager, Tax with schedules and calculations in support of the federal tax returns.
- Prepare state income and franchise tax returns for both insurance and non-insurance companies. Prepare premium tax returns and provisions for insurance companies.
- Assist with calculations for monthly and quarterly IFRS and statutory tax provisions.
- Under the guidance of Management, prepare and/or review journal entries and work papers.
- Prepare and/or review account reconciliation/analysis to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Provide explanation of significant variances.
- Develop and maintain procedures manual for all current job functions for training and backup purposes.
- Must be able to assign self with appropriate tasks based on tax calendar and department initiatives.
- Assist other members of the Tax team with duties and quarterly and annual preparation of financial statements as needed.
- Perform special projects and assist in team projects as assigned including those based upon requests from other departments.
- Continually review department techniques and workflow for the purpose of making suggestions for enhancements, improvements and automating tasks which will have time and cost saving consequences.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance - Experience:
0 - 2 years - Experience with tax software programs is helpful
- Must understand general accounting concepts

Pay Philosophy:
The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at Mapfre are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Salary Range $52,100 - $65,000
