The Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive patient care in collaboration with supervising physicians at the Heart Center of North Texas. This role includes the diagnosis, treatment, consultation, and follow-up of patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions. The NP delivers care consistent with professional training, clinical guidelines, and organizational standards, while promoting preventive health and patient education.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIncluding the following: other duties may be assigned.
- Provide high-quality cardiovascular care to inpatient and outpatient populations under physician supervision and in collaboration with the medical team.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute, chronic, and long-term cardiac and general health conditions.
- Perform patient examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Educate patients and families regarding disease prevention, medical conditions, treatment options, prescribed medications, and lifestyle modifications.
- Promote health maintenance and prevention strategies aligned with current clinical guidelines.
- Document all patient encounters accurately and comprehensively, including evaluations, diagnoses, treatments, outcomes, referrals, and patient education.
- Maintain medical records in compliance with NCQA, Joint Commission, and state regulatory standards.
- Demonstrate organizational efficiency by effectively managing patient caseload and daily workflow.
- Participate in ongoing learning by integrating new knowledge and clinical best practices from professional literature, training, and continuing education.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal continuity of care.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient and organizational information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Travel to satellite locations (Fort Worth, Weatherford, Granbury)

Education- Graduate from an accredited Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program.
- Minimum of 2,000 hours of practical cardiac nursing experience required.
- At least 5 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred.
- Current Texas Nurse Practitioner license.
- ACLS certification required.
- National certification as a Nurse Practitioner (AANP or ANCC) preferred.
- Demonstrates strong clinical and diagnostic judgment, with proficiency in computer documentation and EMR systems.
- Ability to read and interpret medical documents, safety rules, and clinical protocols.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, staff, and providers.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Maintains professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrated ability to assess complex clinical situations and develop appropriate, evidence-based care plans.
- Proficient in EMR documentation and basic office software applications.
- Intermittent walking and sitting; frequent use of hands and fingers.
- Some bending, stooping, and reaching required.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
- Requires close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work environment is typically quiet to moderate in noise level.
