RN Supervisor - PACU

- Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act, with emphasis on the Surgery Service Line.
- Use therapeutic communication in daily practice.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic PACU environment.
- Implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual PACU patients.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing process.
- Provide emotional support to patients and significant others to make informed choices regarding health care.
- Promote a supportive PACU environment that treats patients and families with dignity, respect and appreciation of their lifestyle, religion and culture.
- Maintain high‑quality care for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, as assigned.
- Delegate tasks to the appropriate caregiver.
- Provide immediate post‑surgical care of patients ranging from infant to geriatrics (excluding critically ill infants and children) who have had general anesthesia, epidural/spinal anesthesia and IV sedation.
- Provide supervision of new employees, patient care assistants, vocational nurses, nurse technicians, student nurses and/or nurse externs.
- Support the mission, vision and values of the organization.
- Assist the manager in planning, organizing, directing and coordinating clinical and management activities of an assigned area, including payroll, productivity reports, employee counseling, interviewing, performance appraisals, occurrence reports and special initiatives.
- Precept Charge Nurses and maintain personnel files.
- Supervise and facilitate the provision of safe patient care.
- Support the development, implementation and revision of policies and procedures.
- Manage nursing and material resources.
- Assist as clinical resource for unit‑specific medical devices, equipment and complex patient care activities.
- Assist with occurrence investigation.
- Function in the role of Charge Nurse.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
- Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Two years PACU experience (five years preferred).
- Minimum of two years' experience in Critical Care in an acute care hospital within the last three years.
