The Summer Program teaching assignment starts on June 2nd through July 3rd in the afternoon (1:00 pm to 4:00 pm), Monday through Thursday. Exact times for hour‑long classes will be determined. Pre and post tests, syllabus, and grading are required.
This position is designated as a security sensitive position and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check.
Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.

Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching one or two sections in any art discipline, providing instruction to facilitate students’ acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, and mentoring students in and out of the classroom.
- The UB Summer Program runs from May 30th to July 2nd. Classes will be either one hour each or one hour and a half class.
- Instructors are required to give pre‑ and post‑tests, determine end‑of‑program grades, and be flexible with learning outcomes for students who miss days.
- All materials are provided by the UB program. Instructors are expected to be fiscally mindful in their requests.
- The instructor should be able to organize classroom assignments and expectations, as well as communicate through CANVAS (WC’s learning management system).
The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned, and instruction will be face‑to‑face. All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.
Required EducationBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in subject matter.
Required Experience2 years teaching experience in High School setting and/or college within the subject areas of a variety of electives.
Preferred EducationTexas Teacher certificate preferred.
Preferred ExperienceCurrent State of Texas Teacher’s certificate. Experience working with students and parents who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education. Past participant in TRIO programs and/or have prior experience with TRIO programs.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTeach courses offered within the Upward Bound Summer program. Maintain familiarity with and adhere to college policies and procedures. Provide instruction and an effective learning environment. Development of classroom curriculum. Utilize innovative techniques in teaching science subject matter that include but are not limited to project based, research, and/or other methods.
