Engineer, Component Maintenance Optimization - Plant Vogtle 1&2
Job SummaryComponent Engineers direct implementation of assigned programs and work processes. Major Programs include breakers, large pumps and motors, air or motor operated valves, I&C subcomponents, and condition-based maintenance technologies such as vibration, thermography, motor monitoring, and oil analysis. Engineering tasks involve interfacing with the corrective action process and work scheduling. Engineers maintain equipment reliability, ensure regulatory compliance, and apply industry best practices, budgets, and oversight of inspections of plant equipment.
They look for long‑term performance improvements and work on key refueling outage assignments. Responsibilities also include on‑call duty rotations and emergency plan response requirements.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or PE License required
- Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering discipline preferred
Skills and Abilities
- A background in engineering with working knowledge of applicable discipline codes and standards
- Ability to solve problems and make sound engineering decisions based on experience and appropriate industry practices
- Previous experience in systems engineering, programs engineering, or component engineering, especially with pumps, is preferred
- Experience and working knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section XI is a plus
- Working knowledge of nuclear plant systems, structures and components preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven organizational skills with ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously
- Capable of working efficiently and effectively across organizations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel and Power Point
- Places highest priority on nuclear and industrial safety
- Accepts ownership of assigned programs, projects and tasks
- Develops strategy for optimum use of resources
