Nuclear Operations Plant Instructor - Plant Vogtle 3&4 Job Summary

The Nuclear Operations Plant Instructor will conduct classroom and simulator instruction, develop training and examination materials, and process and maintain training records for licensed and non-licensed operator training programs. The successful candidate must obtain a license or certification at the Senior Reactor Operator level and meet NRC required education and experience criteria described in INPO Academy Document 10-001 – "Guidelines for Initial Training and Qualification of Licensed Operators".

• Develop and maintain training and evaluation materials used for operations training programs.
• Conduct training sessions in various settings to ensure plant staff is trained, retrained and qualified as required.
• Assist in determining training program effectiveness.
• Maintain plant training records and qualification programs for plant employees.
• Conduct training needs, job and task analyses.
• Conduct quality reviews, research and evaluation as requested by training supervision.
• Ensure training programs meet high performance standards and expectations.
• Assist line organizations through temporary assignments such as supporting outages, root cause teams and performance assessments.

• High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science is desired.
• Previous NRC commercial Senior Reactor Operator/Reactor Operator license or SRO Instructor Certification is preferred.
• For candidates without prior commercial experience, prior U.S. Navy nuclear power experience with two or more years as a qualified Reactor Operator, Engineering Officer of the Watch, Engineering Watch Supervisor, or equivalent is desired.

• At least five (5) years of nuclear power plant experience (commercial or Navy) is required.
• A maximum of two (2) years of experience may be fulfilled by academic or related technical training on a one-for-one basis.
• Previous instructor experience in a formal training environment is desired.
• Detailed knowledge of operating procedures and regulations in the assigned area.
• Detailed knowledge of nuclear plant systems and processes.
• Working knowledge of plant simulation software.
• Prioritizes work of self and others to ensure schedules are met.
• Incorporates vendors, contractors and other employees into decision-making when necessary, acting in a lead role to ensure quality decisions are made.
• Considers financial implications of decisions and actions to ensure costs are controlled.
• Communicates clearly and professionally in both spoken and written formats.
• Demonstrates strong personal accountability for achieving high‑quality results.
• Respects the dignity of every individual.
• Assumes personal responsibility for individual and corporate success.

• The successful candidate must meet background screening and NRC Fitness for Duty requirements.
