The R&D Electronics Engineering Specialist supports engineering teams through hands on prototype assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation throughout the product development lifecycle. This role also contributes to part documentation, engineering changes, and component procurement while helping maintain an efficient and compliant R&D lab environment.
Key Responsibilities Technical & Lab Support- Execute bench level development tests, debug activities, and technical evaluations.
- Build, modify, and repair assemblies, PCBs, and system level prototypes.
- Perform detailed design verification, troubleshooting, and validation of medical electronic systems.
- Conduct PCBA failure analysis and document findings.
- Create, update, and release test fixture documentation.
- Prepare Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and maintain accurate documentation.
- Manage day to day lab operations, including test equipment, consumables, procurement, and calibration requirements.
- Oversee technician assignments, training, and technical support (may include direct supervision).
- Maintain audit driven requirements such as wrist strap compliance and lab safety checks.
- Facilitate design reviews, prepare materials, chair meetings, and distribute minutes.
- Develop and execute V&V protocols in alignment with approved procedures and regulatory expectations.
- Utilize test equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, emulators, and EMI receivers.
- Apply strong understanding of test theory to create effective verification documentation.
- 5+ years of electronics and R&D laboratory experience (or equivalent).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Deep hands on R&D lab experience with strong electronics fundamentals.
- Skilled in digital design concepts sufficient for testing and issue resolution.
- Strong soldering and rework experience with fine pitch and BGA components.
- Proficient with industry standard test equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to assemble, debug, repair, and validate electronic boards, modules, and systems.
- Ability to work effectively with senior engineers on problem resolution.
- Capable of communicating technical details to non technical stakeholders.
- Strong prioritization, multitasking, and time management abilities.
- Supervisory capability to assign tasks and communicate schedule status.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Partners closely with internal Electrical and Mechanical Engineering teams.
- Engages with external labs, suppliers, and test service providers.
- Complies with company environmental, health, and safety policies.
- Responsible for reporting potential environmental or safety improvements.
- Uses standard office and lab equipment including computers, test instruments, and hand tools.
- May require extended hours during peak project phases.
- Must be able to lift equipment as needed.
- Occasional travel for testing, including overnight trips (driving and air travel).
