Project Engineer
We are seeking a Project Engineer to support design/build projects during preconstruction and early design, with a clear path toward Project Manager or Superintendent. This role is focused on design coordination, engineering review management, and decision tracking in a highly regulated utility environment.
Responsibilities- Coordinate design deliverables and engineering reviews.
- Maintain project decision, risk, and assumption logs.
- Support schedule and procurement planning tied to design progress.
- Identify and communicate cost and schedule exposure early.
- Support the Owner and Project Manager without overstepping authority.
- 1-4 years of experience as a project engineer, ideally in industrial-related projects with a design‑build firm.
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, structural, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
- Experience with construction processes such as RFI, submittal, and change order management.
- Familiarity with architecture, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering.
Skills & Qualifications
- College degree in construction or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
- 1-4 years of construction experience.
- Exposure to design/build, utilities, industrial, or EPC projects preferred.
- Strong organizational, note‑taking, and follow‑up skills.
- Comfortable working with engineers and incomplete information.
- Interest in growing into a Project Manager or Superintendent role.
- Proficiency in computer application software including Microsoft Office (Excel & Word), Microsoft Outlook, Procore, and Bluebeam (PDF Viewer).
The position is based on‑site in the office with working hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wayne, NJ.
Pay & BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.65 – $43.26 /hr.
