Project Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to join our accounting team. This role will support multiple construction projects by managing project-related accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and partnering closely with project managers. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, excellent organizational skills, and experience in either the construction industry or real estate development.

• Manage project-level accounting, including job cost tracking, cost reporting, and budget monitoring
• Review, process, and code vendor invoices, subcontractor pay applications, and expense reports to the appropriate projects and cost codes
• Collaborate with project managers to review costs, forecasts, and budget variances
• Maintain accurate project cost records and supporting documentation for audits and compliance
• Monitor AP aging related to projects and ensure timely vendor and subcontractor payments
• Assist with month-end close activities, including job cost reconciliations and accruals
• Support project closeouts, retention tracking, and final billings
• Assist with year-end audits and 1099 preparation

• 2+ years of accounting experience, with required experience in the construction industry or real estate development.
• Strong understanding of job cost accounting and construction financial processes
• Experience with construction accounting/ERP systems (e.g., Sage CRE 300, Procore, or similar)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and reconciliations
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
