The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for leading the personnel and overseeing all processes in the shipping and receiving department. This includes ensuring that all inbound and outbound shipments are handled safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures. The Supervisor plays a critical role in supporting production flow, maintaining accurate inventory, and ensuring proper coordination between the Wayne facility and other company sites.
Responsibilities- Supervise all shipping and receiving personnel, providing daily direction and support.
- Generate shipping and receiving documentation for transfers between Myrtle and Venoy facilities.
- Monitor inventory levels and handle material stock ordering from Northfield (GSA) to support production.
- Arrange orders to be pulled and staged by forklift drivers for delivery to Myrtle and Venoy.
- Prepare paperwork, tags, and loading for waste pickups; coordinate removal of washout chemicals.
- Conduct monthly inventories for Transtar and ENVU.
- Monitor and coordinate loads of empty scrap drums, totes, and recycling containers.
- Schedule dunnage trucks with can suppliers for removal of empty pallets, frames, and chipboard dividers.
- Interview, select, and recommend candidates for Shipping and Receiving positions.
- Ensure proper training and certification of team members for forklift and related equipment.
- Maintain accurate shipping/receiving records and ensure compliance with all company and safety standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of prior experience in shipping and receiving.
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Proficiency with computers and shipping software.
- Experience with ERP or inventory management systems.
- Forklift operation experience and ability to operate electric pickers.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Experience managing a shipping and receiving team in a manufacturing or chemical/packaging environment.
- Familiarity with DOT, OSHA, and EPA requirements related to shipping and hazardous material handling.
- Knowledge of lean practices or continuous improvement methods in warehouse operations.
- Ability to coach and develop team members for high performance.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout warehouse and production areas.
- Must be able to consistently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Requires frequent bending, lifting, and reaching.
- Work performed in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.
- Exposure to moving forklifts, truck traffic, and loading dock activities.
- Non-climate-controlled environment; temperatures and conditions may fluctuate seasonally.
- Noise levels moderate to high depending on production activity.
