Wayland Middle School is seeking an energetic and student-centered staff member to supervise in our cafeteria.

WPS is a high-achieving west-suburban district of 2,800 students, with one preschool, three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Our diverse student body hails from Wayland and Boston and is composed of 32% students of color and 68% white students, with 15% of our students having a first language other than English. Responsibilities:

Create a welcoming and orderly environment in the cafeteria.

Maintain the cafeteria norms

Stay seated in the cafeteria while eating

Take a cafe pass and sign out when needed (using the restroom)

Use indoor voices

Wait in line patiently for lunch and/snack

Clean your own table; throw away trash as cafe supervisors bring the barrel to your table.

Provide feedback to students related to norms when needed.

Interact positively with students and other supervising staff

Supervise students in the different lunch areas including the cafeteria, the courtyard, and the recess field.

Alert administrators about concerns related to individual students or groups of students.

Experience (preferred, but not required):

Experience teaching in a diverse public middle school preferred

Job Requirements

High School diploma and at least two years of college.

Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for work to be performed.

Experience working with students at the secondary level.

Appropriate interpersonal skills to deal effectively with students and staff.

Experience with diverse populations and commitment to Wayland's goals of diversity and inclusion.

Possess those personal characteristics necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position.

Citizenship, residency or work visa required
