Head Lifeguard – Seasonal

The Head Lifeguard – Seasonal, under direct supervision, performs all standard life guard duties for Cane Creek Park. Work includes assisting permanent staff in lifeguard staff scheduling and supervision, preparing swim areas for park’s opening and closing, and ensuring all equipment is properly inspected as per standard inspection intervals. Performs all standard life guard duties for Cane Creek Park. Protects the health, safety and welfare of swimmers within the designated activity areas.

Supervises the beach and swim areas. Enforces park rules and safety regulations in the assigned area of responsibility. Conducts daily cleanups in assigned areas of responsibilities. Assists permanent staff in lifeguard staff scheduling and supervision. Assists with preparing swim areas for park’s opening and closing. Ensures all equipment is properly inspected at standard inspection intervals. Speaks to people with poise, voice control and confidence.

Records and delivers information, explains procedures, follows oral and written instructions. Is able to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Performs under occasional stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress.
Exercises immediate remedial action to correct any quality deficiencies that occur in areas of responsibility. Maintains high-quality communication and interacts with other County Agencies, co-workers, and the general public. Maintains effective and efficient output of all duties and responsibilities. Assumes responsibility for doing assigned work and meeting deadlines. Attends work regularly and adheres to County policies and procedures regarding absences and tardiness.

Maintains an enthusiastic, self-reliant and self-starting approach to meet job responsibilities and accountabilities. Identifies problems or situations as they occur and specify decision objectives. Identifies or assists in identifying alternative solutions to problems or situations. Adheres to all safety and housekeeping standards established by the County and various regulatory agencies and to see that the standards are not violated. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED), and one (1) year of lifeguard experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses or

Certifications:

Maintain current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certificate. Maintain current CPR, AED and First Aid Certificates. Maintain a valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.

Special Requirements:
This position may be subject to a fingerprint background check. Per NC State Bureau of Investigation requirements, applicants for a position of employment required to work with children in any capacity will be required to electronically submit fingerprints for a state and national criminal history record. Must be available for weekends and holidays. Position runs from late May through Early September.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED), and one (1) year of lifeguard experience including supervisory, scheduling, and customer service experience.

Maintain current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certificate. Maintain current CPR, AED and First Aid Certificates. Maintain a valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.
