Provide care for patients utilizing fetal and maternal monitoring equipment. Manage the patient's pain including epidural and patient-controlled analgesia administration. Assist physician during delivery, treatment, examination, and surgical procedures. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems. Provide patient and family education on labor, pain, and newborn care.

Labor and Delivery Shift/

Schedule:

Full Time, Days | 3/12-hour shifts | 7am- 7pm 36 hours/ and 18 hours of On Call every 6-week schedule Department: 70 team members for Women's, 6 labor rooms, 1 triage room, 2 bed recovery room (or converted to 4 bed triage room), 2 ORs Patient Ratio: L&D 1 nurse to 2 patients, 1 nurse OR 1 labor patient & 1 triage/1 nurse OR 3 triage patients/1 nurse.

** Women's Expansion:
Department is growing and plans to expand to a new unit Summer of 2026 where we will have 10 labor rooms and a 3 bed OBED

* Preferred Experience:

-Triage nurse competency.

-Circulator nurse competency.

-Certified in obstetrics.

-NRP (preferred but can obtain upon hire)
-Baby catcher skills.

Job Summary As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies. Essential Functions of the Role As an RN, conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.

Create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes. Building relationships, managing discomfort, staying professional are vital in therapeutic connections with patients and families. Creating care plans reflecting values aids in resolving issues. You will help educate patients, families, nurses, and community members. Empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly.

Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly. You'll use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery. Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth. Contribute to peers' development, show community service commitment. Key Success Factors A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.

Know nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area. Understand hospital procedures and rules. Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects. Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights. Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing. Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
