Position Summary
The Master Utility Repair Worker (URW) works throughout the District and is responsible for maintenance repairs involving multiple trade disciplines, emergency repairs and in depth knowledge HVAC and plumbing equipment repairs.
Essential Job Functions- Respond to work orders involving HVAC, plumbing and emergency repairs (e.g., ceilings, flooring, roofing, motor repair/replacement, pump repair/replacement, receptacle/switch repairs).
- Maintain proper operation of boiler controls.
- Maintain operation of HVAC equipment, pneumatic and digital.
- Monitor and maintain equipment as listed in the District's preventative maintenance program.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Provide necessary care and management of school property, including money, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Oversee inventory of products and supplies.
- Address emergency situations.
- Plan and coordinate the work of paraprofessionals and volunteers in conjunction with school-related activities.
- Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as responsible, intelligent human beings.
- Remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment.
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods, up to six hours in an eight-hour day.
- Ability to perform moderate heavy physical work, frequently lifting up to 50 pounds and/or exerting up to 50 pounds of force to move objects without assistance in indoor and outdoor settings.
- Ability to reach in all directions and bend/stoop.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, lift, carry, push, pull, climb, balance, kneel, stoop, bend, reach, handle, and feel.
- Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person to provide information and assistance.
- Ability to move throughout the building and from building to building.
- Dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment such as fax machine, copier, etc.
- Hearing ability adequate to participate in numerous conversations throughout the day, both in person and over the telephone.
- Vision ability that allows individual to read handwritten or typed material and to adjust focus.
- Ability to complete job activities in an environment where extremely loud noise may be present.
- Ability to maintain concentration and focus on tasks requiring timeliness and accuracy.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors, in all types of weather.
