Synopsis:
Wausau Coated is actively seeking an experienced warehouse assistant/straight truck operator to join our team!
The Shipping and Receiving Assistant is responsible for safely and efficiently packaging and shipping outbound finished goods and LTL truck freight as directed by shipping schedules and the Transportation Manager. The position is also responsible for putting away incoming truck shipments and assisting in other areas of shipping and receiving as workload dictates.
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time position, Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., or as assigned by the Transportation Manager. Scheduled work hours may also vary depending upon business and customer demands.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Verify accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing, comparing size, weight, description, and bar code numbers with information on shipping documents, packing list and purchase orders.
- Move inventory to various locations using forklift, pallet jack or hand cart.
- Scan and store items according to established location scanning procedure.
- Maintain computerized inventory records, take physical count periodically and check against inventory control totals.
- Pick and verify accuracy of outgoing orders, auditing each shipment prior to loading to ensure that goods match sales order.
- Drive delivery/straight truck to various local Wausau Coated locations to transfer materials.
- Communicate effectively between shift change.
- Package and label product based on established procedures and standards.
- Prepare shipping and receiving documentation according to Company procedures.
- Load and unload material from trailers and tankers.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Follow all Company safety policies and procedures, Critical 9 Workplace Safety Rules and 3 Safety Obligations.
- Valid Regular Class D driver’s license (CDL not required).
- Delivery, inventory control and shipping and receiving experience.
- Good computer skills and experience using bar code scanners.
- Must be self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Good record of job performance, attendance, and punctuality.
