Seeking an experienced Med/Surg Registered Nurse for a 13-week locum tenens travel nursing job in the Post Surgical Care Unit at a leading healthcare facility in Wausau, WI (zip code 54401). Healthcare Job Details
- Position Type:
Locum Tenens Travel RN – Medical/Surgical - Location:
Wausau, Wisconsin (Post Surgical Care Unit) - Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 10/13/2025 – End: 1/10/2026)
- Shifts:
12-hour variable shifts (Day/Night: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM / 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) - Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed hours
- Weekend/Holiday Rotation:
Every other weekend and holiday - Unit: 40-bed inpatient Post Surgical Care Unit
- Patient Ratio:
Day/PM: 1:4-5, Nights: 1:5-7 - Float:
To all inpatient units as needed - Estimated Weekly Salary: $1990-$2130
- Active Wisconsin RN license (required for Wisconsin healthcare jobs)
- BLS certification (must be attached upon submittal)
- Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing required;
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred - Minimum 2 years recent Medical/Surgical hospital experience
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Prior travel RN experience required
- Epic EMR charting experience required
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in the post-surgical recovery phase
- Manage patient assignments and prioritize care based on acuity in a busy clinical environment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Float to other inpatient units as needed and adapt to high-volume admissions (10-15 per day)
- Utilize Epic EMR, Rovers for medication scanning, and Alaris pumps for clinical support
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working as part of a healthcare team
