** Risk Management -- Claims Processing, Property/Insurance Management & Budgeting
*** Conduct thorough reviews of insurance policies and legal documents, contracts, and agreements to identify potential legal risks and liabilities.
* Assist in evaluating the potential risks associated with county decisions, contracts, and operations, providing recommendations to mitigate or manage those risks.
* Collaboration with insurance companies, law enforcement officers, and county department staff to gather relevant information regarding legal cases, claims or incidents of risk.
* Monitor and ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, working to align organizational practices with legal standards.
* Assist in preparing for civil litigation by gathering relevant information, coordinating with insurance companies and external legal counsel.
* Assist in providing training sessions to internal teams on legal considerations and risk management strategies to enhance overall legal awareness within the organization.
* Maintain accurate and organized records of all claims, including correspondence, reports and other relevant documentation.
* Develop and manage budgets related to insurance premiums, ensuring financial plans align with organizational goals and risk management strategies.
* Collaborate with insurance providers and third-party vendors to negotiate favorable terms, ensuring cost-effective insurance solutions.
** Child in need of Protection or Services (CHIPS) / Termination of Parental Rights (TPRs) / Minor Guardian ships
*** Provide guidance and support for social workers and attorneys in navigating the CHIPS, TPR and guardianship processes, ensuring all legal requirements are met and deadlines adhered to.
* Conduct in-depth case assessments and evaluate legal grounds for meaningful discussions with stakeholders.
* Collaborate with social services to gather relevant information required to draft petitions and other legal documents.
* Assist in preparing legal documentation for court hearings, including, but not limited to, petitions, motions, briefs, etc.
* Assist in preparing for jury trials by gathering relevant information, preparing witnesses, managing documentation, and coordinating with social workers and external legal counsel.
* Provide support to attorneys during hearings and trials.
* Conduct legal research to stay informed about relevant laws that may impact individual cases, processes or procedures.
* Maintain accurate and detailed records of all legal proceedings, decisions, and actions.
* Provide training to internal staff and external partners on relevant legal processes.

* Qualifications:
*** The ideal candidate will have a combination of the following education and relevant experience:
Degree or certification in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, Risk Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or a closely related field.
* Supervisory experience, recent experience with civil court procedures, use of WESTLAW computer software for legal research as well as significant experience in the field of risk management and insurance is also preferred.
* Valid driver's license and a driving history that meet County standards.
** Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
*** Must be able to work independently and able to make quick decisions without guidance, while following County policies and state and federal laws.
* Requires proven project management abilities and high proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Strong time management skills, with the capacity to effectively prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to make decisions effectively and bring creative solutions to complex problems
* Considerable knowledge of legal terminology and business English, spelling and grammar.
* Understanding and application of the civil rules of procedure.
* Skill in completing basic arithmetical computations, identifying errors, and keeping a variety of accurate records.
** Compensation:
** Starting salary: $70,324.80 +
