Overview
The Director of Outpatient Services provides strategic and operational leadership for NCHC’s Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinics across Marathon, Lincoln, and Langlade Counties. The role ensures the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centered mental‑health, substance use disorder, psychiatry, and patient access services. The Director oversees multidisciplinary clinical teams, facilitates compliance with DHS and Joint Commission standards, collaborates with internal and external partners, and supports financial sustainability of all outpatient programs.
The position also plays a key leadership role in the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Psychiatry Residency partnership and medical staff relations activities.
- The starting pay range is $109,491–$121,664, based on education and experience.
- This is a full‑time, in‑person position.

- Eligibility for the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS). The WRS is a hybrid defined‑benefit plan that includes elements of both a 401(k) and a defined‑benefit plan. Staff contribute 7.2% and NCHC matches 100% each pay period.
- Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration or a closely related field.
- More than 2 years of demonstrated relevant experience.
- At least 1 year of leadership experience.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and personal vehicle.
- Prior healthcare leadership experience.
- Previous experience in outpatient services.
- Provide daily oversight for outpatient mental health, psychiatry, substance use disorder services, and outpatient nursing, ensuring client satisfaction, employee engagement, and operational outcomes.
- Support completion of annual budgets, manage expenses and revenue to meet budget targets.
- Develop and manage productivity and fiscal targets; evaluate programs for cost‑effective change and implement those changes.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and regulatory/accreditation regulations.
- Maintain regular on‑site attendance.
- Ensure care delivery meets regulatory requirements, including DHS and the Joint Commission.
- Develop standards of treatment with clinical leadership.
- Address deficiencies identified through continuous improvement analysis with corrective actions.
- Coordinate and delegate quality improvement projects and compliance monitoring.
- Facilitate design and implementation of clinical experiences for graduate medical learners.
- Support medical staff committees, peer review processes, and medical bylaws.
- Resolve client grievances and complaints.
- Oversee compliance documentation auditing, ensuring completion and follow‑up with clinicians and prescribers.
- Provide outreach, education, and coordination of care with other NCHC departments such as inpatient hospital and community treatment.
- Collaborate with MCW on onboarding, orientation, scheduling, clinical rotations, and service delivery.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and key stakeholders to maximize collaboration.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Directly supervise or provide guidance to psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists, outpatient operations specialists, and nursing operations managers.
- Assign and evaluate work, review performance, and manage staff development in collaboration with HR.
- Coach and mentor employees constructively and encouragingly.
- Manage employee performance, partnering with HR as needed.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and retention processes for the outpatient services area.
