Medical Receptionist
The Triage Coordinator is responsible for responding to patient phone calls, completing FML paperwork, completing prior authorizations for medications and tests (CT scans, MRI scans, etc.). The Triage Coordinator will complete medication refills as directed by the physician as well as schedule tests and/or labs as directed by the physician.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities- Document responses to patient inquiries within patient record, as directed by the physician
- Record billing information of the exam for proper financial processing
- May escort patients to patient reception area
- May be required to assist patients with walking, pushing wheelchairs, and transferring
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other employees throughout the Clinic
- Address patient calls, triaging emergent calls and determining appropriate scheduling protocol for the situation
- Complete patient medication refill requests
- Completing FMLA paperwork
- Scheduling
- Prior authorizing imaging requests (i.e., CT scans, MRI)
- Other duties as assigned
The Triage Coordinator reports directly to the Patient Services Manager
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- High School diploma or equivalent
- CMSS or Medical Assistant certification obtained within 6 months of employment or COA required within 1 year of employment
- Advanced understanding of medical terminology
- 2-4 years customer service experience
- Ability to remain unbiased when making decisions
- Demonstrates knowledge of proper, safe, efficient use of office equipment, working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to work in a fast-paced medical facility while adhering to HIPAA compliance regulations
- Ability to see people as individuals, recognize and meet their specific needs related to their role
Work is performed at the main clinic: 800 N. First Street, Wausau, WI. Travel to satellite locations is required when needed. Hours of work will be dependent on the needs of the Clinic. Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting (30 pounds), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs is required.
