Position SummaryThis position acts as the Institution comptroller in areas of fiscal operations, budget preparation and financial oversight of all WCI allocated funds and administers a variety of management support programs and services. Responsibility includes the planning, direction, coordination and oversight of the institution’s financial operations and management services. It also directs and coordinates Food Service, Buildings/Grounds, Central Generating Plant, Laundry and Business Office (including Stores/Canteen) services and operations;
and supervision of staff in assigned areas.
This position also performs related Executive duties as requested by the Warden and interacts closely with the Warden, Deputy Warden and other institution department heads in policy development, budget development and meeting budgetary requirements as well as in planning programs, staff, equipment, operations, building projects and utilization of facilities - adhering to the provisions of all Wisconsin Statutes dealing with the fiscal operations of the Institution.
SalaryInformation
The starting pay is between $67371 and $111092 per year, plus excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. The pay schedule/range is 81‑02. A two‑year Career Executive trial period is required.

Job DetailsApplicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre‑employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre‑employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment.
QualificationsMinimally qualified applicants will have experience in the following:
- Management of budget and/or fiscal operations, including budget development and implementation, purchasing, and financial management (e.g., pertaining to programs, salaries/overtime, equipment)
- Leadership or supervision of staff (e.g., interviewing, hiring, assigning/reviewing work, conducting performance evaluations)
- Development and/or implementation of policies and procedures for an office, unit, department, etc.
