Position SummaryQuality products are essential to Gusmer's reputation as the Go to Provider, the Quality Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring product quality through testing, sampling, and inspections, across all stages of production. Collaboration and clear communication are essential for resolving issues and supporting investigations. This role is accountable for maintaining quality standards while adhering to established procedures and safety protocols.
Essential Functions- Accountable for conducting timely and accurate quality control testing on incoming raw materials and manufactured products, ensuring compliance with established procedures, specifications and frequencies.
- Communicates test results to the production floor to support informed manufacturing decisions.
- Enters and maintains accurate physical property data within the Quality Management System in accordance with established procedures.
- Performs routine calibration checks and verification for all quality control–related equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Generates quality certificates as required to meet product specifications and customer requirements.
- Responsible for data entry for all production samples and retainment.
- Performs in-process audits throughout the course of the shift to verify compliance with both internal procedures and customer specifications.
- Contributes to laboratory and testing area cleanliness, maintenance, and biohazard removal.
- Collects raw material, validation, in-process and finished product samples for analytical testing.
- Calibrates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Ensures QC support in Manufacturing (Environment Monitoring) and cleaning verification/validation process.
- Collaborates with the quality team during Outside of Specification (OOS) investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
- Maintains laboratory inventory.
- Assists production, R&D, and Engineering departments when required.
- Assists validations, studies and routine tests for product development.
- Assists and coordinates the samples sent to external laboratory for testing.
- Performs other Quality Control Technician duties as assigned.

Experience and Education- High school Diploma/GED required.
- Some Quality Control experience preferred.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety, and ISO quality standards.
- Knowledge of calibration, maintenance, and operation of laboratory equipment.
- Working knowledge of quality control principles and test methods.
- Skilled in performing quality control tests and inspections accurately and consistently for raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods.
- Strong communication skills required to convey test results, quality concerns, and inspection outcomes.
- Skilled in maintaining laboratory inventory and ensuring readiness for audits.
- Ability to perform inspections and testing with a high degree of accuracy and consistency.
- Capability to multitask in order to work effectively with production, quality, and support teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Capacity to recognize nonconforming conditions, abnormal results, or potential quality risks and escalate appropriately.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, other computer programs, and technology.
