The Materials Coordinator works closely with Purchasing, Inventory Control, Production Coordinators, and warehouse personnel to help maintain accurate inventory, ensure job packets reach production at the appropriate time, and support the timely procurement of maintenance and operational supplies.
Responsibilities- Assist the Purchasing Agent with purchase order expediting and supplier follow-ups.
- Place online orders for MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) supplies as needed.
- Track order status and communicate potential shortages or delays to the Materials team.
- Coordinate with Production Coordinators to ensure jobs are ready to run.
- Assist with updating ERP or production systems related to job readiness.
- Work with Inventory Control to perform cycle counts, spot counts, and inventory audits.
- Help investigate inventory discrepancies and locate missing or misallocated parts.
- Assist with organizing and maintaining accurate material storage locations.
- Provide general administrative and operational support to the Materials team.
- Serve as backup support for Production Coordinators during absences or high workload periods.
- Assist with documentation, data entry, and ERP transactions related to materials and purchasing.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Basic computer proficiency (ERP systems, spreadsheets, purchasing portals)
- 1–3 years of experience in manufacturing, materials, purchasing, or inventory control
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Sage 100 Preferred)
- Familiarity with manufacturing documentation such as job packets, BOMs, and purchase orders
