Overview

Maintenance Technician — Waukesha, WI | $30–$40/hr

Schedule:

Full-Time

About the Opportunity

We’re partnering with a growing manufacturing operation that needs a true hands-on Maintenance Technician — someone who can fix, fabricate, and weld in-house to keep production moving. This isn’t facilities work, HVAC, or swapping filters. They want a tech who can diagnose mechanical issues, build the part needed, weld it, install it, and get the line running again.

If you’re the type who doesn’t call a vendor because you can make the fix yourself, this is absolutely your lane.

Who They’re Actually Looking For
  • A welder/fabricator first, maintenance tech second. Someone who can build guards, frames, brackets, carts, supports — not just repair them.
  • Comfortable diagnosing mechanical problems on their own without waiting on engineering or outside contractors.
  • Experienced in manufacturing maintenance (NOT apartments, buildings, HVAC, or property maintenance).
  • Used to working with their hands all day — grinders, drills, mills, saws, welders, torches, pipe threading tools, etc.
  • A problem solver who sees an issue and immediately thinks: “I can make the part we need.”
  • 5+ years in a plant or industrial environment where uptime is everything.
  • This job is perfect for someone who loves fabrication, enjoys variety, and wants to use a wide range of mechanical skills every day instead of doing repetitive or surface-level maintenance work.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment on the floor — mechanical, structural, and support systems.
  • Fabricate and weld custom parts.
  • Perform MIG welding daily; TIG/stick experience is a bonus.
  • Machine simple parts using mills, drill presses, saws, or grinders when replacement parts aren’t available.
  • Cut, thread, and install piping for equipment and plant utilities.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and document your work.
  • Support production whenever machines malfunction or need modification to increase safety or uptime.
  • Help maintain overall plant operations, stepping in wherever hands-on mechanical work is needed.
  • This is real mechanical maintenance — you’ll fix, build, create, and fabricate every week.
