Job Summary:
The Heat Seal Machine Operator plays a critical role in ensuring that the Radio Frequency Machine is operating efficiently in order to seal the fabrics. This position is responsible for the setup and operation of the RF (radio frequency) machine to seal fabrics, which is also used to create a padded pattern on our seat covers. This position is vital in making sure we have dozens of patterns available to meet our customers needs for function and look.
This is a part-time position, about 15-20 hours a week. Hours must fall Monday through Friday between 7:00am and 3:30pm. We are flexible within that window and open to discussing a schedule that works for both the employee and the team.
Essential Duties:
- Choose and load correct die for product part number to be generated.
- Make machine adjustments to ensure good seal based on temperature and humidity and various other factors.
- Continue to check part quality throughout entire run of parts.
- Confirm all safety procedures and practices are followed.
- Suggest process method improvements.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
- Assist other production departments in other functions where needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Good verbal and written communication skills with fluency in English.
- Prior experience working with fabric and vinyl processing/embossing a plus.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Manual dexterity.
- Part number identification.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time (8 hours a day).
- Ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist occasionally.
- Ability to carry 30 pounds, 3 feet, occasionally.
- Ability to push 50 pounds on a wheeled cart for 40 feet occasionally.
- Ability to pull 60 pounds on a wheeled cart for 50 feet occasionally.
- Good hand/finger dexterity required.
- Ability to handle repetitive motion.
- Ability to reach above shoulders, crouch, bend at the waist, and climb an A-frame ladder.
- High school diploma
- 1-year Machine Operator experience
- Basic computer skills, preferred
- Manufacturing experience, preferred
