The Controller plays a key role in the month-end close process, financial reporting, and cash flow management for the holding company and A&S. This individual will ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial data while supporting management with actionable financial insights and process improvements. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to a growing, employee-owned organization through financial stewardship, operational analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Month-End Close & General Accounting- Complete monthly close processes including accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and necessary journal entries.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and maintain supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Lead monthly intercompany reporting and reconciliations.
- Facilitate preparation and filing of 1099 forms and personal property tax returns.
- Prepare monthly individual and consolidated financial statements using Management Reporter, with a transition plan to Power BI.
- Take ownership of all reporting processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop and maintain financial dashboards and key performance indicator (KPI) reports for management.
- Support strategic decision-making through financial analysis, including comparative monthly financial statements and trend reviews.
- Assist with annual budget preparation for the holding company and A&S.
- Participate in the year-end financial audit and tax preparation processes.
- Perform weekly cash reconciliations and monitor cash flow performance.
- Prepare and maintain a rolling 12-week cash flow forecast and identify opportunities to improve working capital efficiency.
- Manage cash applications for A&S, lead the collections process and related reporting.
- Drive process improvement initiatives through automation, documentation, and enhanced reporting.
- Actively contributes to cost management and efficiency initiatives across the organization.
- Complete other special projects and responsibilities as assigned by the OE Financial Leader.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 3–7 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial analysis.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools a plus.
- Familiarity with multiple ERP systems and management reporting software, including Quickbooks online and MS Great Plains.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across multiple operating companies.
