Multisite Maintenance Manager
Role Summary
The Multi-Site Maintenance Manager leads the maintenance responsibilities across numerous manufacturing facilities, ensuring the reliability and performance of complex equipment, including automated production lines.
This role combines technical expertise with strategic leadership to reduce downtime, uphold safety standards, and drive operational excellence across all sites.
Direct Reports
The Maintenance Manager will manage each facility's Maintenance department, made up of Maintenance Supervisors and Maintenance Mechanics.
- 1 to 10 Maintenance Supervisors
- 1 to 5 Maintenance Coordinators
- 1 to 40 Maintenance Mechanics
Knowledge-Skills-Abilities
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Facilities Management, or related field
- Certifications in Continuous Improvement preferred
- Certifications in Lean or Six Sigma preferred.
Experience:
- 7+ years of progressive maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, with multi-site responsibility preferred.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience
- Proven track record of leading maintenance teams in high-volume production settings, ensuring uptime, safety, and operational efficiency.
- Extensive hands‑on experience with complex industrial machinery, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of mechanical or electrical systems.
- Comprehensive technical knowledge of:
- Mechanical systems and components
- Electrical wiring and controls
- PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Skilled in preventive and predictive maintenance planning, with a focus on minimizing downtime and extending equipment life cycles.
- Strong background in root cause analysis (RCA) and implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurring equipment failures.
- Experience working with automated and robotic equipment, including PLC-controlled machinery and integrated production lines.
- Strong technical literacy, including the ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to guide maintenance and repair activities.
Technology/Software:
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) software.
Communication:
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
- Can present information to others without a mechanical competency.
- Knows how to respond professionally to concerns and criticisms so as to strengthen trust and relationships.
- Proficiency to prepare written messages, reports, and presentations that properly convey intended information to a diverse audience.
Physical Capabilities
Strength & Dexterity:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally heavier loads with assistance.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for fine motor tasks, tool handling, and equipment adjustments.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, gripping, and reaching during equipment maintenance and repair.
Movement:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking on concrete floors in a manufacturing environment.
- Frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, and crawling in tight or confined spaces.
- Occasional sitting for administrative tasks or computer-based work.
Hearing:
- Ability to work in environments with moderate to high noise levels; hearing protection may be required.
