Responsibilities- Represents the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff at public events and in various capacities with government (municipal, county board, and state legislature) and community organizations.
- Provides operational assistance by managing special projects and leading key initiatives.
- Ensures that issues needing the Sheriff’s attention are addressed in a timely manner.
- Facilitates communication with all stakeholders; and ensures that the Sheriff’s Office is responsive to the needs of the Sheriff, Command Staff, rank and file and community, with attention to supporting the Sheriff’s priorities, community relations, and equity.
- Oversees and drives Community Relations and Public Information strategies to increase public awareness, engage communities across the county, and strengthen existing relationships between LCSO and communities, government agencies, and organizations.
- Assists with efforts in researching available law enforcement grants and other funding streams for various projects.
- Conducts reviews of proposed legislative actions to determine the potential impact on the organization.
- Facilitates effective communication with the Board’s leadership team and with individual Board members by preparing/contributing to reports, briefings, presentations and responses on Board goals and specific requests.
- Able to manage projects with attention to detail by demonstrating strong organizational skills, ability to balance the big picture with detailed steps to reach the end goal, and ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines.

- Acts as a point of contact or gatekeeper between executive command and other external stakeholders.
- Provides oversight and guidance to projects of high importance as assigned by the Sheriff.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in criminal justice administration, law enforcement, business, communications or something related.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in criminal justice administration or law enforcement. Must have some knowledge of federal, state and local laws.
- Requires light to medium work involving standing or walking for extended periods.
- Exerting up to 30 pounds of force on a regular basis.
- Moderate dexterity in operating machinery, tools, or office equipment.
- Frequently required to walk, sit, and talk or hear for extended periods.
- Frequently required to travel throughout Lake County via automobile.
