Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical Engineer Waukegan IL 60085 6 months Contract to Hire Job Summary Performs mechanical engineering work that requires proficiency in Creo/Solidworks, mechanical engineering skills and independent judgment. Responsible for the designs of all sheet metal and fabricated items. This position reports to the OEM Product Development Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
• Will generate all drawings for prototypes, and release of all fabricated parts for production, in both 2D and 3D.
• Will work with Manufacturing, Service, and RMA departments to help track and resolve defect issues.
• Coordinate the work of a technician, prototype assembler, or others working on his/her projects.
• Advises his/her manager of project progress and any significant developments in the work being accomplished.
• Must be cognizant of production environments, and the design of products including the fasteners, assembly, metal types, finishes, welding, etc. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requires knowledge of modern manufacturing methods in test, assembly, and fabrication areas. Must be fluent in Creo software, with Solidworks experience a plus.

3D printing knowledge not required, but a plus, as well. Education and Experience Requires a BS Engineering Degree and previous related 3 years of experience in designing sheet metal enclosures for electronic equipment.
